Government censorship has reached a new level with a civil bureau charged with redacting sensitive information from the public. However, progressive legislators attempted to balance it by charging national libraries with protecting knowledge important to the public, and allowing them to safeguard it by any means necessary.

The result? Both branches of civil service transformed into armed paramilitary organizations and engage in violent turf wars.

The anime covers one young woman who enters the service and is assigned to the most militant arm of the security department.

Interesting story, relevant to the US situation with the government's current mania for declaring official documents top secret. I suspect it was originally created as a critique of the rise of Japan's current hardline right wing, behind the current Japanese textbook controversies as well as its goal of re-militarization. But, I don't know enough about Japanese current events to comment.

Conclusion: Books + anime commando fetishism = daily value of awesome.
