A collection of articles on Toshio Maeda (and here) and Takeshi Oshima, two illustrators who specialize in erotic comics.
Maeda is the creator of LA BLUE GIRL, which for some inexplicable reason was the only anime available in most US video stores for years. More importantly, he was the creator of UROTSUKIDOJI, or LEGEND OF THE OVERFIEND (I'm not going to link to it, you can make that google search on your own, thank you), which is kind of the "Deep Throat" of erotic manga.
On it's inspiration (from the article):
At that time, I was dealing with manga for an adult magazine. I really wanted to create something different, but the editor wanted me to create some regular manga for adults - like a typical type of salaryman falling in love with an office lady…or such a boring story like that. But I just wanted to make something different. The chief editor was against my idea, but I insisted.
[Here's a Russian fansite. Just because.]
An old coworker of mine gave me an Urotsukidoji Tshirt some years ago as a "Christmas shirt" (he made a point of wearing shirts with crazy monsters on Christmas). It's still one of my favorite shirts, although I'm not a fan of the series. There's just something about being aware that this kind of thing exists.
And, it serves as an interesting sort of code-word to recognize fans of Japanese pop culture. To most people it looks like a generic shirt for a comic or heavy metal band, but people who do recognize it almost always comment on it.
