Oh! Edo Rocket

Now if you are looking for an anime to spice up your life look no further. Only but once every couple of years an anime truly worthy comes out from the depths of Japanese artist's creativity. Well my sociopathic little friend, it has happened once again.

To give a brief synopsis on this anime I turned to AnimeNewsNetwork.com's plot summary.

Oh! Edo Rocket

In Edo during the mid-1800's, fireworks maker Seikichi Tamaya and his friends struggle to live under the harsh frugality laws imposed by the strict city magistrate, which ban all luxuries, including fireworks. One day, a strange girl stops by Seikichi's shop with an equally strange request: she wants Seikichi to build a firework that can reach the moon.

Zany -adjective
ludicrously or whimsically comical; clownish.

Call me a sucker for zany comedy but.. well I am. Anyways I am so much that I loved Cromartie High School which is really one of those love or hate type of series. To give a brief nerdy critique on the anime I'll use the following.

Windows Vista

In this first image we see Genzo's mother open up her night stand which happens to be a 3 LCD monitor wide computer running Windows Vista. Realizing that since this is the Edo period in the mid-1800's it was probably pretty hard to find (invent) this so we can only assume she is a smart cookie. Unfortunately since the anime is using Windows we're going to have to start the anime's score off with -1 point.

Firefox

This next image shows although she is using Windows she has taken the time to install the Internet Explorer alternative Firefox. Being a programmer myself I don't appreciate Firefox's translation of variables on styles when passed through JavaScript but way to think out of the box Genzo's mom~! +1 point.

YouTube

The image below depict an obvious usage of YouTube which is extremely apparent in the close up, not to mention that the anime uses this to give a recap on what happened last episode. Wow. +1000 points.

So to tally up the total we come to 1000 points for the anime Oh! Edo Rocket which has seemed to set a new standard for using modern day faulty technology in the mid-1800s.

Adios~!
