Blog entry on a new Asian-American film, where the comments section becomes a shit-fit over the interracial couple depicted.
I'm a bit out of the loop, but from what I recall most media avoids depicting interracial couples because many audiences strongly oppose miscegenation. This is somewhat contravened by the fetishization of Asian women, it is true. But there is still a reluctance to show these interracial couples in TV or in advertising, isn't there?
Foreign language education for the hearing impaired. How does it work? I imagine it must exist, but it's hard for me to wrap my head around. I've never studied a sign language before.
She and her husband has gotten wide popularity and repect from Korean public by adopting babies. In Korea, adoptation is nearly existed because of strong recognition only for bloody children. They also have donated several children in other nations. In 2005 she and her husband Cha In Pyo adopted a baby girl who was named Ye-eun. The reason for the adoption was to encourage people to adopt children.
First of all, hi, I haven't posted in about five million years, but something happened yesterday that I thought was share-worthy. Got some mail from my grandmother. I opened it up and a little note fell out which said, "Hello Autumn, Please read this book. I love you and I worry about you. -Gram" I turned the book over and read the title. "The Gift of Fear, and other survival signals that protect us from violence" Wow. My grandmother gave me the gift of fear!
Back when I was working a stint in telephone tech support, I had one caller who had lost some email. She was very upset, since this email contained months of genealogical research, none of it having been backed up. I tried to explain to her that the email was basically lost (I don't recall the technical situation, but I think it had been removed from our servers when she erased her email box, or something of the sort).
Very tired, so please bear with me as a make a couple of half-baked posts to try to get myself back in the posting habit.
A very good analysis of the little support Barack Obama receives from the Asian-American community.
[I just noticed, it sounds like a little ethnic enclave in a corner or town when you refer to a minority group as a "community". The "expatriate community" in Seoul sounds like you're only talking about Itaewon or the foreigner bars in Hongdae, although I never go there.]
I have no idea if any of it is true, since I'm pretty removed from the process. But interesting nonetheless.
That's a mouthful.
